Nearly every British home has a single-phase supply, and from a 7.4 kW wall box the C-Class pulls 32 A through it, adding about 75 kWh in 12 hours, or roughly 375 miles of WLTP range. Put a 16 A cable between the same wall box and the car and the rate drops to 3.7 kW. On a 22 kW public post, a C-Class with the optional charger goes from empty to full in about five hours, while the standard 11 kW unit takes about ten.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBack the saloon in and its right rear flap ends up a short stretch from the wall, which a six-metre cable bridges comfortably with the wall box mounted to the right of the car. Driving in forwards puts almost 4.9 metres of saloon between flap and wall, so go for eight metres. If another vehicle occupies the space in front of the wall box, the C-Class needs a ten-metre cable when reversed in and a 15-metre one when parked nose first.
