Dongfeng charging specs and cable recommendations

The Dongfeng Box charges single-phase on AC, up to 6.6 kW depending on battery size. A Voldt® 7.4 kW single-phase cable draws its full onboard rate at a home socket, a wall box or a public charge point. A three-phase cable adds no speed on the current single-phase models, though a 22 kW cable keeps the setup ready if you move to a three-phase-capable Dongfeng later. The Box uses a Type 2 inlet, so any Voldt® Type 2 charging cable connects without an adapter.

Getting cable length right

The distance between your charge point and the car's inlet varies more than most people expect, and it changes depending on which direction you pull in, which side of the car the inlet is on, and whether the cable needs to clear a kerb or run along a wall. A 4 m cable works in a contained garage setup where the wall box is installed directly beside the parking space. For standard driveways and carports, 6 m or 8 m covers both inlet positions without pulling taut or leaving large coils on the ground.

At public charge points, the situation is less predictable. Bays fill up, angles vary, and the post is not always where you expect it. An 8 m cable handles most of these scenarios comfortably. If you regularly charge at workplaces or destination chargers with longer cable runs, or share a home charge point between two vehicles, 10 m or 15 m removes the variables entirely.

Cable length	Best suited for
4 m	Compact garage with wall box directly beside the parking spot
6 m	Standard driveway or carport, inlet on either side of the vehicle
8 m	Flexible home and public charging, covers most charge point layouts
10 m	Larger vehicles, shared parking, or charge points set further from the bay
15 m	Remote charge points, multi-vehicle setups, or commercial locations
