Porsche EV Background

With a long tradition and significant experience in building electric vehicles, Porsche stands out even before the EV revolution of the 2010s. The first battery-powered vehicle designed by Ferdinand Porsche was produced in 1898, named Egger-Lohner C. 2 Phaeton. It took 121 years for another EV to bear the Porsche name, but the wait was worth it. Today, Porsche is fully committed to a zero-emissions future, not just by expanding its lineup of high-performance machines that combine classic design with modern technology and precision driving dynamics, but also by joining forces with Rimac, a Croatian EV powerhouse. We at Voldt are great fans of Porsche's EV range, with its blisteringly fast machines and innovative take on the EV idea that promises an exciting future. We are proud to offer prime charging cable solutions for all Porsche electric cars.

Porsche EV Models

The first fully battery-powered model was Taycan, which was introduced in 2019 and is still in production. Built on a special Volkswagen J1 platform, it is designed as a performance sedan that captivates the imagination of car enthusiasts with its design and performance figures. The success of the Tycan allowed Porsche to expand its lineup with an all-new and all-electric Macan compact SUV and the upcoming Cayenne EV. However, what is most interesting is the fact that Porsche will present all-electric replacements for its Boxster and Cayman lineup. Those two highly anticipated models will be Porsche's first proper battery-powered sports cars. Porsche sells PHEV versions of the Panamera and Cayenne along with the all-electric models.

Porsche EV Technology

Since the Porsche EVs are designed to achieve blisteringly fast acceleration times and top speed, it is no surprise that their EV technology is very advanced. It is not just the big battery packs and extracting high horsepower ratings but also exciting components like a two-speed gearbox for top Taycan versions and a complicated but needed battery cooling system. For the Taycan, Porsche offers three battery sizes – 79, 93, and massive 105 kWh packs, depending on the version. All battery packs use 800 v architecture and have very high charging speeds. When connected to an AC charger, Taycan is capable of charging at 19.2 to 22 kW, but when connected to DC, it can charge at an astonishing rate of 270 kW. Interestingly, Porsche also gave the new Macan EV a mighty 95 kW battery pack, but in this model, the power levels are a bit lower in order to achieve a more extended range. The base version of the Macan EV has one rear-mounted electric motor, but all other versions have front and rear motors. We at Voldt have designed our charging cables to comply with specific Porsche EV technology for best performance and maximum usability in any conditions.
