Type 2 Coiled Charging Cable - 22kW

Our European-made Type 2 charging cable is designed for charging your electric car or PHEV with a Type 2 connection at home or abroad. This charging cable is suitable for three-phase charging, supporting up to 32 amps and a maximum charging power of 22kW.

Flexible and Durable Coiled Charging Cable

Convenience is important. After a long day, returning home to recharge your electric vehicle should be hassle-free. Our coiled charging cable eliminates the need to untangle wires or navigate long, unwieldy cords. Its coiled design ensures minimal space usage when not in use and extends seamlessly when needed. Additionally, our 11kW and 22kW coiled charging cables are currently the only ones available in 8 meters, providing greater flexibility in reaching your charging station while maintaining the convenience of the coiled design.

What sets this cable apart is its construction from a higher quantity of finer copper wires. This results in a smoother cable that is more resistant to right-angle bends

Mode 3

  • Can you extend an EV charging cable?

For years, extending an EV Type 2 charging cable was considered impractical, if not impossible, due to technical challenges and regulatory constraints. Many industry attempts failed due to signal degradation, power loss, or inability to meet stringent safety standards. However, Voldt has overcome these barriers with the development of the first fully functional Type 2 extension charging cable. Drawing on advanced engineering and innovative materials, our solution not only ensures seamless communication between the charger and EV but also adheres to global safety and performance standards.

  • What is mode 3 charging EV?

Mode 3 charging for an electric vehicle (EV) is a charging method where the EV is charged via a dedicated charging station or wallbox, with controlled and secure communication between the car and the charging point. It is the most commonly used and recommended way to charge at home and at public charging stations.

Key Features of Mode 3 Charging:

    1. Direct connection to a charging station
    2. Safety and Intelligence
    3. Charging Power
    4. Smart Charging

    Advantages of Mode 3 Charging:

✔️ Faster charging than a standard household socket (Mode 2).
✔️ Ensures safety with built-in communication and protection mechanisms.
✔️ Efficient energy management with smart charging functionalities.

    Comparison with Other Charging Modes:

    • Mode 1: No communication between the power source and the vehicle (an outdated and not recommended method).
    • Mode 2: Charging via an electrical socket using a special cable where a computer in the cable handles the communication.
    • Mode 4: DC fast charging (e.g., CHAdeMO or CCS) where direct current is supplied straight to the battery, often up to 350 kW.

In summary, Mode 3 is the standard and recommended method for daily EV charging, especially at home and public charging points. 🚗⚡

  • Are Voldt's charging cables suitable for every charging station in the United Kingdom?

Yes, Voldt’s Type 1 and Type 2 charging cables are suitable for any charging station in the UK. Be aware that our Type 3 charging cables are only suitable for a Type 3 charging station typically found in France or Italy.

  • In what order do you charge your electric car?

To charge your electric car safely and correctly, follow these steps in the right order: first, make sure your car is parked and switched off. Next, if you are using a home charging station or public charging point, grab the charging cable and connect it to the charging station. Then connect the other end of the charging cable to your vehicle's charging port. Check that the connection is solid and correct. If you use a Mode 2 charging cable that connects to a household socket, make sure the in-cable control box (ICCB) is properly positioned and connected before connecting the cable to the car. Once everything is connected, the charging process will start automatically. While charging, keep an eye on the charging status via the car's dashboard or the charging station indicator. Once charging is complete or you want to stop charging, disconnect from the car before disconnecting the cable from the charging station or socket.

Safe and Sturdy Build

The jacket surrounding the copper is specially crafted to withstand high temperatures, rain, and abrasion. It has undergone rigorous testing and certification for charging electric vehicles.

Our plugs are manufactured from a single piece, eliminating the need for gluing or screwing. This design enhances plug strength, wear resistance, and waterproofing compared to other plugs available in the market. The contact pins in the plug are composed of 100% copper and are silver-plated to prevent rust and corrosion.

Charging cables are subject to wear and tear over time. To demonstrate our confidence in the quality of our charging cables, we offer a 100% guarantee for the first 3 years of use and up to a 50% guarantee on the purchase price for up to 5 years.

If this cable does not meet your requirements, please explore our range of Type 2 charging cables or search for the right cable specific to your car.
