Collection: 32A Adapters for CEE

This collection brings together Voldt® CEE 32A adapters, each designed to provide a red 32A 5-pin CEE socket from a different type of power source. If you own a mobile EV charger or other equipment fitted with a red 32A 5-pin CEE plug, these adapters let you connect it to household wall outlets, campsite power bollards, lower-rated industrial sockets and public Type 2 charging stations across Europe.

What is a CEE 32A socket?

CEE is the common name for industrial plugs and sockets standardised under IEC 60309, colour-coded by voltage and phase configuration: red for three-phase (400V) and blue for single-phase (230V). The amperage rating indicates the maximum current the connector is designed to handle.

A CEE 32A 5-pin connector (red) has three phase conductors, a neutral and an earth. At full three-phase capacity, it supports up to approximately 22 kW (32 amperes per phase at 230V). A CEE 32A 3-pin connector (blue) carries a single phase conductor, a neutral and an earth, supporting up to approximately 7.4 kW.

These sockets are found in workshops, industrial facilities, marinas, construction sites and some higher-capacity campsite installations. A CEE 32A adapter converts a different type of power source into a 32A 5-pin CEE socket, allowing 32A-rated equipment to be connected.

Types of adapters in this collection

The collection includes three categories, grouped by input source:

Domestic and international plug adapters

These compact adapters feature a domestic male plug on the input side and a red 32A 5-pin CEE socket on the output side. You plug the adapter into a standard household wall outlet, and your 32A CEE-equipped device connects to the adapter's output. Available input formats include Schuko (Type F, most of continental Europe), Type G (UK), Type J (Switzerland) and Type L (Italy). Because the input is single-phase, only one phase of the 5-pin CEE output is energised, and the available current is determined by the domestic outlet's own rating.

CEE-to-CEE adapters

These adapters bridge the gap between different industrial CEE socket formats when the available source does not match your equipment's 32A 5-pin plug. Available combinations include 16A 5-pin red to 32A 5-pin red, 16A 3-pin blue to 32A 5-pin red, and 32A 3-pin blue to 32A 5-pin red. When the input is a single-phase blue socket, only one phase of the red 5-pin output is energised: approximately 3.7 kW from a 16A blue source, or approximately 7.4 kW from a 32A blue source. When the input is a 16A red 5-pin (three-phase), all three phases are active but the source limits current to 16A per phase, providing up to approximately 11 kW.

EV charging station adapter (Type 2)

This adapter cable connects your 32A CEE-equipped mobile charger to public Type 2 charging infrastructure. The input side plugs into a Type 2 charging column outlet, and the output side provides a red 32A 5-pin CEE socket. The Type 2 connector is the current European EV charging standard, found on virtually all modern public charging stations.

When to use a CEE 32A adapter

These adapters are designed for situations where your equipment has a red 32A 5-pin CEE plug but the available power source uses a different connector. Common scenarios include using a 22 kW mobile EV charger at a location with only 16A industrial sockets or domestic outlets, connecting 32A-rated equipment at a campsite or marina with blue CEE bollards, adapting a 16A CEE installation to accept 32A equipment, and accessing a public Type 2 charging station with a CEE-terminated charger.

The available power in each scenario depends on the input source, not the adapter. The adapter provides the physical connection; the source determines how much current is available.

Electrical ratings and safe use

All adapters in this collection provide a red 32A 5-pin CEE socket. These are passive adapters with no internal current-limiting electronics: the 32A CEE socket format mechanically accepts equipment rated up to 32A, and the connected device draws within its own design limits.

The actual available power is always determined by the input source. A domestic Schuko outlet, a 16A blue campsite socket and a 32A three-phase industrial supply will each deliver very different levels of current through the same adapter. Your equipment's onboard power management will typically detect and adjust to the available supply.

Before selecting an adapter, confirm which socket type is available at your location, verify that your equipment supports the phase configuration the input provides, and ensure the source is adequately rated for your intended load.
