Mercedes C 63 Charging cable

Mercedes C 63 Charging cable

3.7kW
The Mercedes C 63 has a charging capacity of 3,7kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 3,7kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 3,7kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: Mercedes C 63 Charging cable

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance is a high-performance plug-in hybrid available as a Saloon and an Estate. It pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the most powerful series-production four-cylinder in the world at 350 kW (476 PS), with a 150 kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle, delivering a combined system output of 500 kW (680 PS) and over 1,000 Nm of torque. Drive goes to all four wheels via AMG Performance 4MATIC+ and a nine-speed automatic gearbox, with 0–100 km/h taking 3.4 seconds. The electric motor draws from a 6.1 kWh battery (4.8 kWh usable), giving a WLTP electric range of approximately 13 km. The onboard AC charger is 3.7 kW single-phase, and there is no DC rapid charging option. The Type 2 charging port is integrated into the right rear of the vehicle.

Battery and electric range

The C 63 S E Performance uses a compact, high-density 6.1 kWh battery designed for performance rather than extended electric range. The electric motor contributes to the powertrain's instant torque delivery and supports the electrically assisted turbocharger derived from Formula 1 technology, eliminating turbo lag rather than providing a meaningful pure-electric driving mode. The 13 km WLTP electric range reflects this focus: the battery's role is to enhance performance and responsiveness, and it also supports recuperation under braking at rates of up to 100 kW, recharging itself continuously during use.

Charging at home and at public wallboxes

Given the compact 4.8 kWh usable battery, charging times are short regardless of the supply. At any wallbox or public AC point rated at 3.7 kW or above, a full charge from empty takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Connecting to a higher-rated supply, whether 7.4 kW, 11 kW, or 22 kW, makes no difference to charging speed: the onboard charger draws only what it accepts, capped at 3.7 kW. In practice, most C 63 S E Performance owners top up during longer stops rather than planning dedicated charging sessions, as the battery replenishes substantially through recuperation during spirited driving.

Choosing the right cable

The 3.7 kW single-phase onboard charger is fully served by an 11 kW Type 2 cable, which is compatible with every public AC charging point and home wallbox across Europe. The car will charge at its 3.7 kW maximum regardless of the cable's rated capacity. For those planning ahead for a future vehicle with higher AC charging capability, a 22 kW cable is the forward-looking option: fully compatible with the C 63 S E Performance today and ready for any next vehicle without any change of hardware.

How long a cable do you need?

The charging port is integrated into the right rear of the vehicle, so reversing to the charge point or positioning the right rear flank toward the wallbox is the most straightforward approach. A 6 metre cable covers the majority of home driveway and garage setups. For public charging, an 8 metre cable handles the variation in post positions and bay layouts across different stations. For greater reach, 10 and 15 metre cables are available, and Voldt® supplies cables up to 40 metres for dedicated or commercial installations.

Portable charging with a CEE charger

A portable CEE charger extends charging options for C 63 S E Performance drivers who charge away from a fixed wallbox. Because the onboard charger is single-phase and capped at 3.7 kW, socket type has no meaningful impact on charging speed. On a 16A single-phase CEE socket (3.7 kW), a full charge from empty takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. On a 16A or 32A three-phase CEE socket, the car draws from one phase only at 3.7 kW, giving an identical charge time. Portable chargers are available from 3.7 kW to 22 kW, all fully compatible with the C 63 S E Performance.
