Mercedes E-Class PHEV charging cable

Mercedes E-Class PHEV charging cable

3.7kW
The Mercedes E-Class PHEV has a charging capacity of 3,7kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 3,7kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 3,7kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: Mercedes E-Class PHEV charging cable

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class PHEV (W214) is an executive plug-in hybrid available as a Saloon and an Estate, with petrol and diesel powertrain options. The petrol variants are the E 300e (230 kW / 313 PS, rear-wheel drive, 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds), the E 300e 4MATIC (230 kW / 313 PS, all-wheel drive, 0–100 km/h in 6.5 seconds), and the E 400e 4MATIC (280 kW / 381 PS, all-wheel drive, 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds). The E 300de 4MATIC pairs the same electric motor with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. All variants share the same 25.4 kWh battery, 11 kW three-phase AC onboard charger, and WLTP electric range of between 95 and 115 km depending on variant. A 55 kW DC rapid charging option is available. The Type 2 charging port is located on the left front flank.

Battery and electric range

The 25.4 kWh lithium-ion battery is integrated into the floor of the vehicle and provides a WLTP electric range of up to 115 km for the E 300e, with the 4MATIC and E 400e variants returning up to 109 km due to the additional weight of the all-wheel-drive system. The diesel E 300de achieves a similar WLTP range. In all cases the electric motor delivers 440 Nm from rest, and the car defaults to electric-only mode at startup, switching to the combustion engine for higher loads or depleted battery. Electric driving is possible at speeds up to 140 km/h.

Charging at home and at public wallboxes

The 11 kW three-phase onboard charger fills the 25.4 kWh battery from empty in approximately 2 hours 45 minutes at a compatible three-phase wallbox or public AC point. At a single-phase 7.4 kW supply, the same charge takes approximately 3 hours 40 minutes. For faster charging away from home, the optional 55 kW DC connection brings the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes and from empty to full in approximately 30 minutes.

Choosing the right cable

The 11 kW three-phase onboard charger is the correct match for an 11 kW Type 2 cable, which delivers the car's full AC charging rate at every compatible wallbox and public Type 2 point across Europe. For those planning ahead for a future vehicle with 22 kW three-phase AC charging, a 22 kW cable is the sensible upgrade: fully compatible with the E-Class PHEV today and ready for any future vehicle without any change of hardware.

Length: finding the right fit

The charging port is on the left front flank on both the Saloon and Estate, so pulling forward into a charging bay or parking nose-first to the wallbox is the most natural approach. A 6 metre cable suits most home driveways and garage configurations. For public charging, an 8 metre cable handles the variation in post positions and bay layouts across different stations. For greater reach, 10 and 15 metre options are available, and Voldt® supplies cables up to 40 metres for dedicated or commercial installations.

Portable charging with a CEE charger

A portable CEE charger extends charging options to any location with an industrial socket. On a 16A single-phase CEE socket (3.7 kW), a full charge from empty takes approximately 6 hours 55 minutes. On a 16A three-phase CEE socket (11 kW), a full charge completes in approximately 2 hours 45 minutes, matching the speed of a home wallbox. A 32A three-phase CEE socket delivers the same 11 kW rate for an identical charge time. Portable chargers are available from 3.7 kW to 22 kW, all fully compatible with the E-Class PHEV across all variants.
