Collection: Renault Zoe charging cable

The Renault Zoe has been on European roads longer than almost any other electric car, and it remains distinctive for one reason: its Caméléon onboard charger accepts up to 22 kW AC on a three-phase supply. That is double what most EVs can accept, meaning a full charge from near-empty takes under three hours at a compatible 22 kW public post. At a single-phase 7.4 kW wallbox, the same car completes a full charge in roughly seven hours. The Type 2 charge port sits at the front of the car, behind the Renault diamond badge.

Getting the most from the Zoe's onboard charger

A 22 kW Voldt® Type 2 charging cable is the right match for the Zoe across every scenario. At home on a standard single-phase 32A wallbox, it draws the full 7.4 kW. At a public three-phase destination charger, it scales all the way to the Zoe's native 22 kW maximum. An 11 kW three-phase cable is a poor fit for this car: on a single-phase home wallbox it can only use one 16A conductor, cutting your charge rate to 3.7 kW, and at public three-phase infrastructure it still caps you at 11 kW, leaving half of the Zoe's capacity on the table.

The front-centre port changes how you think about cable length compared to most EVs. Reversing into a bay puts the port furthest from the post, so erring on the longer side pays off. A 6 or 8-metre cable covers the majority of home and public situations comfortably. If your usual spots tend to be awkwardly laid out, 10 metres takes the uncertainty out of it. A 15-metre cable is the no-compromise choice for hotel car parks and unfamiliar infrastructure.

Portable charging away from home

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable delivers output up to 22 kW, matched to the Zoe's full onboard charger rate. At a red three-phase 32A CEE socket, you get the complete 22 kW. At a red three-phase 16A socket, output is 11 kW. The blue single-phase 16A CEE sockets typical of campsites and caravan hookups deliver 3.7 kW, enough for a comfortable overnight top-up.

Where only a standard domestic wall socket is available, the Voldt® Schuko portable charger draws 2.3 kW (10A safe limit). For the Zoe specifically, this is strictly a backup option: the Caméléon charger is notably less efficient at low currents, and the car may refuse to charge altogether if it detects variation in the domestic earth line.
