Tesla Model X charging cable

The Tesla Model X combines the practicality of a full-size SUV with the long-distance capability expected from Tesla's largest passenger vehicle. Both the Long Range and the high-performance Plaid use a 100 kWh battery pack with 96 kWh usable, paired with an 11 kW three-phase onboard AC charger. Despite the Plaid's significantly higher performance output, its AC charging capability is identical to the Long Range. Connected to a three-phase wallbox or public AC post, the Model X gains approximately 30 miles of range per hour, with a full charge from near empty taking around nine hours. The CCS Type 2 inlet sits on the left rear flank, where the fuel filler would be on a conventional SUV.

The left-rear port mirrors the position of a conventional fuel filler, so reversing into a bay puts the port closest to the post. For most home setups a 6-metre cable is comfortable. An 8-metre cable is the practical everyday standard for mixed home and public use. A 10-metre cable offers extra flexibility at public charge points where parking orientation varies. A 15-metre cable handles hotel parking areas, longer driveways and larger charging bays without restriction.

Reliable charging while travelling
