Charging cable BMW 330e

3.7kW
The BMW 330e has a charging capacity of 3,7kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 3,7kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 3,7kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: Charging cable BMW 330e

The BMW 330e combines a turbocharged petrol engine with a plug-in electric powertrain: long-distance flexibility from the combustion side, zero-emission daily commuting from the battery. Two distinct generations are on UK roads today. The pre-2024 330e carries a 12 kWh battery, a 3.7 kW single-phase onboard AC charger, and an electric-only range of roughly 22 to 25 miles under real-world conditions. A full charge at 3.7 kW takes approximately three and a half hours. The 2024 facelift changed the picture substantially: the battery grew to 22.3 kWh (19.5 kWh usable), nearly doubling capacity, and the onboard charger jumped to 11 kW three-phase, cutting a full charge to around two hours and fifteen minutes on a compatible three-phase supply. At a single-phase 7.4 kW wallbox, the same battery charges in roughly three and a half hours, still a significant improvement. Electric-only range on the 2024 saloon reaches up to 63 miles WLTP, with the Touring at 60 miles. Both generations are available as saloon and Touring, and the pre-2024 was offered in both rear-wheel drive and xDrive. No DC rapid charging is available on any 330e variant. The charging port sits on the left front flank across all body styles.

Cable guide for the BMW 330e

Most UK homes charge on single-phase power. For 2024 and newer 330e models with the 11 kW three-phase charger, a Voldt® Type 2 22 kW charging cable is the strongest recommendation: rated at 32A per phase, it delivers 7.4 kW on a single-phase 32A wallbox, whereas an 11 kW cable at 16A per phase would cap single-phase speed at 3.7 kW. That difference matters: approximately three and a half hours versus roughly five and a half hours for the 19.5 kWh battery. For pre-2024 cars with the 3.7 kW charger, cable rating does not affect speed since the car draws 3.7 kW regardless, but the 22 kW cable future-proofs for the next vehicle and works identically on the current one.

The left-front port means pulling forward into a bay puts the connector closest to the charge point in most layouts, the opposite of what you would do with a right-rear port. With a PHEV battery this compact, cable reach is less of a concern than on a full EV. A 6-metre cable covers most home setups comfortably. An 8-metre cable adds useful versatility for public posts and workplaces where the pillar sits further from the car, and is the more practical long-term choice if you charge in varied locations.

Taking charge wherever you stop

A Voldt® portable charger with a red three-phase CEE plug (up to 11 kW) is where the 2024 330e's upgraded charger truly shines away from home: from a 16A three-phase supply, it delivers the full 11 kW, filling the 19.5 kWh battery in around two hours and fifteen minutes. Three-phase CEE sockets turn up at workshops, farms, and commercial premises. For pre-2024 cars, the single-phase charger limits output to 3.7 kW from a red CEE socket, charging the 12 kWh battery in approximately three and a half hours. The Voldt® blue CEE portable charger draws up to 3.7 kW from a single-phase 16A CEE socket, the type found at campsites and marinas. At that rate, the pre-2024 battery fills in around three and a half hours and the 2024 battery in roughly five and a half hours: both entirely manageable during a day's stay or an overnight stop.

The Voldt® three-pin portable charger plugs into any standard UK household socket and delivers up to 2.8 kW, within the limits of what your wiring can sustain. On a PHEV with batteries this size, the three-pin charger is a genuinely practical everyday tool: the pre-2024 battery charges fully in around four hours, and the 2024 battery in approximately seven and a half hours. An evening plugged in at a friend's house, a day parked at a hotel, or a few hours at a holiday cottage all translate into meaningful electric range. A built-in thermal sensor monitors the plug and socket temperature continuously and adjusts the charging current automatically if things begin to warm beyond safe limits.
