BMW iX2 Charging cable

BMW iX2 Charging cable

11kW
The BMW iX2 has a charging capacity of 11kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 11kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 11kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: BMW iX2 Charging cable

The BMW iX2 is the coupé-SUV sibling to the iX1, sharing the same electric platform and battery hardware beneath a lower, sleeker roofline. It launched in 2024 in two variants: the front-wheel-drive eDrive20 and the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive xDrive30. Both carry the same 66.5 kWh gross battery with 64.7 kWh usable, and both use the same 11 kW three-phase onboard AC charger as standard, with a 22 kW three-phase charger available as an option. The CCS charging port sits on the right rear flank on both variants. The eDrive20 has a single front-mounted motor producing 150 kW, reaches 62 mph in 8.6 seconds, and offers a WLTP range of up to 285 miles. The xDrive30 adds a rear motor for all-wheel drive, raising combined output to 230 kW and cutting the sprint to 5.6 seconds, with a WLTP range of 259 to 279 miles depending on wheel choice. The lower roofline of the iX2 relative to the iX1 delivers marginally better aerodynamic efficiency, which shows in the range figures. DC rapid charging peaks at 128 kW on the eDrive20 and 130 kW on the xDrive30, with both completing a 10 to 80% charge in around 29 to 31 minutes at a compatible CCS post. On the standard 11 kW AC charger, a full charge from near-empty takes approximately six and a half hours on both variants. With the optional 22 kW charger and a compatible three-phase supply, that drops to around three and a half hours.

Choosing the right charging cable for the BMW iX2

Both iX2 variants use a Type 2 connector for AC charging, so a Voldt® Type 2 charging cable is the correct choice across the range. For cars with the standard 11 kW onboard charger, an 11 kW cable is the right match, making full use of any three-phase wallbox or public post. A 22 kW cable works identically at 11 kW and is worth considering if you want the flexibility to use the same cable with a higher-capacity vehicle in the future.

Owners who have specified the optional 22 kW charger should use a Voldt® 22 kW cable to take full advantage of it: running an 11 kW cable on a 22 kW charger caps the session at 11 kW, so the cable rating must match the charger to make the upgrade worthwhile. If you are not sure which charger your car has, the onboard display shows the live rate during any session and the order sheet confirms it.

The right-rear port suits forward-entry bays naturally on both variants. The iX2 is a compact car, which means cable length matters less here than on larger EVs, but getting it right from the start still removes a small but recurring inconvenience. A 6-metre cable covers most home installations where the wallbox sits close to the parking space. An 8-metre cable is the most practical all-round choice, handling most home layouts and the majority of public post positions without repositioning the car, and the length worth defaulting to for most iX2 owners. A 10-metre cable gives useful extra reach at posts set back from the bay, or where the car parks with the port side furthest from the pillar. A 15-metre cable handles hotel car parks, long driveways, and wider bays without any restriction.

On the road, away from home

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable is available up to 22 kW via three-phase CEE. On a standard 16A three-phase CEE socket, both iX2 variants receive 11 kW, filling the 64.7 kWh battery fully from near-empty in around six and a half hours, a comfortable overnight stop at any campsite or marina with a three-phase supply. Owners with the optional 22 kW charger can take advantage of 32A three-phase CEE sockets where available, cutting that time to roughly three and a half hours. The Schuko portable charger delivers up to 3.7 kW from a standard household socket. At that rate the 64.7 kWh battery takes around eighteen hours from near-empty, which makes the Schuko best treated as a partial top-up option rather than a primary source: a few hours on a household socket still adds meaningful range for local use, even if a full charge is impractical.
