Collection: Charging cable BYD SEAL

The BYD Seal is an all-electric sedan built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0, available as a rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive with up to 390 kW. The 82.5 kWh usable Blade Battery is standard across the range. The 11 kW three-phase onboard charger completes a full charge in around nine hours on a three-phase supply. At a single-phase 7.4 kW home wallbox, the same charge takes around eleven hours. DC fast charging at up to 150 kW recovers 20–80% in around 34 minutes. The CCS2 and Type 2 charge port sits on the right rear flank.

Choosing the right charging cable

A 22 kW Voldt® Type 2 charging cable is the right match for the Seal. At home on a standard single-phase 32A wallbox, its 32A conductors allow the car to draw the full 7.4 kW. At a public three-phase post, it delivers the car's native 11 kW. An 11 kW three-phase cable restricts a single-phase wallbox to a single 16A conductor, cutting the home charge rate to 3.7 kW. With an 82.5 kWh battery, that doubles an eleven-hour overnight charge to over twenty-two hours, well past any practical overnight window.

The right-rear port means reversing into a bay brings it closest to the charging post. A 6-metre cable handles a well-positioned home wallbox. An 8-metre cable is the practical standard for mixed home and public use. A 10-metre cable provides extra reach at stations with less predictable post positioning. A 15-metre cable handles hotel car parks and longer driveways without restriction.

Portable charging away from home

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable delivers up to 11 kW via three-phase CEE, matched to the Seal's onboard charger. At a red three-phase 16A CEE socket, the car charges at its full 11 kW: a complete charge in around nine hours. Red CEE sockets are found at workshops, farms, and commercial premises. The blue single-phase 16A CEE sockets typical of campsites and caravan hookups deliver 3.7 kW, useful for a partial overnight top-up but not a full charge of the 82.5 kWh battery.

A note on domestic wall sockets

The Voldt® Schuko/Type G compatible portable charger draws 2.3 kW (10A safe limit) from a standard domestic wall socket. With the 82.5 kWh battery, a full charge takes around a day and a half, making this strictly an emergency fallback. For overnight home charging, a dedicated wallbox is the minimum requirement.
