Collection: Renault 5 Charging cable

The Renault 5 E-Tech combines retro-inspired design with a capable 11 kW three-phase onboard charger, fitted as standard on both the 40 kWh Standard Range and the 52 kWh Long Range. At a three-phase public post, the Standard Range charges fully in around four and a half hours and the Long Range in around five and a half. At a single-phase 7.4 kW home wallbox, expect around six and a half hours for the 40 kWh battery and around eight and a half for the 52 kWh. The Type 2 charging port sits on the front left flank, behind a discreet flap integrated into the bodywork.

Choosing the right charging cable

A 22 kW Voldt® Type 2 charging cable is the right match for the Renault 5 across every scenario. At home on a standard single-phase 32A wallbox, its 32A conductors draw the full 7.4 kW. At a public three-phase post, it delivers the car's native 11 kW maximum. An 11 kW three-phase cable restricts a single-phase wallbox to a single 16A conductor, cutting the home charge rate to 3.7 kW. With the 52 kWh Long Range, that stretches an overnight charge from around eight and a half hours to over sixteen, a difference that can leave you short of range by morning.

The front-left port suits nose-in parking well, keeping it closest to the post on most standard bays. A 6-metre cable is comfortable for most home setups. An 8-metre cable is the practical standard for mixed home and public use. A 10-metre cable provides extra reach at stations with less predictable post positioning. A 15-metre cable delivers unrestricted flexibility for hotel car parks and longer driveways.

Portable charging away from home

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable delivers output up to 22 kW, matched to the car's onboard charger at 11 kW. At a red three-phase 16A CEE socket, you get the full 11 kW and a complete charge of the 52 kWh battery in around five and a half hours. The blue single-phase 16A CEE sockets typical of campsites and caravan hookups deliver 3.7 kW: enough for a partial overnight top-up, but not a full charge of either battery variant.

Where only a standard domestic wall socket is available, the Voldt® Schuko portable charger draws 2.3 kW (10A safe limit). A full charge takes around twenty hours for the 40 kWh battery and upwards of a day for the 52 kWh, making this strictly an emergency fallback.
