BMW iX xDrive30 charging cable

11kW
The BMW iX xDrive30 has a charging capacity of 11kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 11kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 11kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: BMW iX xDrive30 charging cable

The BMW iX1 xDrive30 is the performance variant of BMW's compact electric SUV, sitting above the entry-level eDrive20 in the iX1 range. Built on the UKL2 platform shared with the X1, it pairs a 66.5 kWh gross battery — 64.7 kWh usable — with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 230 kW. That combination puts the xDrive30 at 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds, with a WLTP range of up to 274 miles depending on specification. The standard onboard AC charger is rated at 11 kW three-phase; a 22 kW three-phase charger is available as an option for buyers who want faster home charging. On the standard 11 kW setup, a full charge from near-empty takes around six and a half hours. With the optional 22 kW charger and a compatible three-phase supply, that drops to approximately three and a half hours. DC rapid charging runs at up to 130 kW via CCS, covering 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes. The combined Type 2 and CCS charging port sits on the right rear flank, consistent with the rest of the BMW electric range.

Choosing the right cable for the BMW iX1 xDrive30

The iX1 xDrive30 uses a Type 2 connector for AC charging, so a Voldt® Type 2 charging cable is the correct choice. On the standard 11 kW onboard charger, an 11 kW cable is the natural match, making full use of any three-phase 11 kW wallbox or public post. Owners who have specified the optional 22 kW charger should use a Voldt® 22 kW cable to take full advantage of it: the cable must match the charger, not just the socket. Running a 22 kW charger through an 11 kW cable limits the session to 11 kW regardless of what the wallbox delivers. If you are unsure which charger is fitted, the onboard charging display confirms the live rate during any session.

The right-rear port position means reversing into a bay puts the connector closest to the charge point. The 64.7 kWh battery charges in around six and a half hours at 11 kW, which is quick enough that cable reach is a smaller concern here than on a larger-battery EV. That said, getting the length right from the start removes a small but recurring friction from every charging stop. A 6-metre cable handles most home installations where the wallbox is mounted close to the parking space. An 8-metre cable is the most practical all-round choice, covering the majority of home layouts and public post positions without needing to reposition the car. A 10-metre cable gives useful extra reach at posts set back from the bay. A 15-metre cable handles hotel car parks, long driveways, and wider bays without restriction.

Portable charging for the BMW iX1 xDrive30

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable is available in models up to 22 kW via three-phase CEE. On a 32A three-phase red CEE socket, the iX1 xDrive30 receives the full 11 kW on the standard charger, charging the 64.7 kWh battery in around six and a half hours. Owners with the optional 22 kW charger can take advantage of 32A three-phase CEE sockets where available, cutting that time to approximately three and a half hours. Campsites and marinas across Europe typically provide blue single-phase 16A CEE sockets, which cap out at 3.7 kW, making them better suited to a top-up than a full overnight charge. Where only a standard household socket is available, the Schuko portable charger delivers a safe 2.3 kW, within the limits that domestic wiring is designed to handle continuously. At that rate a full charge from near-empty takes around 28 hours, so the Schuko is best reserved for an emergency top-up or adding range during a long overnight stop.
